Office move brings park to full occupancy

Allens Office has taken 4,500 sq ft at Cardiff Industrial Park in Llanishen, where it has refurbished the space to provide a working showroom facility for office furniture. Cooke & Arkwright, who acted on behalf of the landlord, ITB Pensions Ltd, said that the deal completed lettings at the 50,000 sq ft industrial park, bringing the client’s ownership to full occupancy.

New jobs created in £2m relocation

Acting on behalf of a private client, Cooke & Arkwright has sold 42,000 sq ft at Rassau Industrial Estate in the Heads of the Valleys to Whittal Williams Ltd. The vehicle repair and hire company has sold its 8,000 sq ft body shop in Abergavenny and invested approximately £2m on the acquisition and refurbishment of its new premises, and in new machinery and equipment. The company is doubling its processing capacity and plans to recruit up to 50 additional operatives during the next couple of months, taking its workforce to around 100.

Commissioner moves into new base in Bay

The Office for the Commissioner for Older People has taken 4,640 sq ft on the third floor of Cambrian Buildings, a Grade II purpose built office development on the corner of West Bute Street and Mount Stuart Square in Cardiff Bay.  Cooke & Arkwright acted jointly with Lambert Smith Hampton on behalf of the landlord, London & County in the deal.

American Daydream

Daydream Education, an award winning and UK leading producer of educational wall charts and supporting Interactive Whiteboard resources, has relocated from Cardiff to Bridgend as part of an expansion programme that is taking in new markets worldwide.  It has recently set up a joint venture with Anatomical Worldwide and is currently targeting the USA education market where it is estimated that only 17% of educational establishments currently employ Whiteboard technology.

Empty Rates harming development in Wales

03/09/08

Amid mounting concern about the damaging effect that the abolition of rates relief on empty property is having on business in Wales, representatives from the property industry and CBI Wales are lobbying the Welsh Assembly Government to consider introducing reforms.  The Assembly has regulatory powers to adjust the rate of empty property relief back to any amount between 0% and 50%.
