Technology boost at Neptune Court

28/09/06

IT Skills Wales, part of The Skills Centre, has taken over 6,500 sq ft of offices at 15-16 Neptune Court in Ocean Park, Cardiff Bay, to accommodate expansion in response to strong demand for its technology based blended-learning and in-centre training programmes. New business-to-business and craft based programmes will be introduced in addition to IT skills, creating a variety of job opportunities after the new premises open later this month.

“We will be taking on a number of skilled training personnel as well as office based administrators, resulting in a fourfold increase of staff within little more than a year,” said Kim Dowsell, general manager of The Skills Centre. “We are in the process of expanding our range of highly effective courses that help new entrants to the IT industry develop worthwhile careers.” Terry John, managing director of The Skills Centre, said, “It was important to find the right premises and we spent some time looking in a variety of locations across south-east Wales. Neptune Court fitted all our requirements. This is a grade A building in a good location, providing easy access for staff who travel in from places like Newport, Barry and the Valleys. It’s also secure, with plenty of parking and provides us with the extra space we need to accommodate expansion and future development.”

Ben Bolton of Cooke & Arkwright, who acted on behalf of Hudson Estates said, “We are pleased to have secured The Skills Centre in both buildings and provide our clients with a strong tenant for their investment in one hit. The quality of space coupled with parking ratios comparable to out of town developments are attractive features for companies locating in the City.” The Skills Centre began trading in 1994 and provides IT learning programmes for students in regions throughout the UK including Wales, where it trades under the name of IT Skills Wales. Students have access to IT professional tutors at local training centres, which provide the classroom based elements of their learning, convenient for those who don’t want to be away from home while attending in-centre learning. The Skills Centre is accredited by the ODLQC (Open and Distance Learning Quality Council) and is a Microsoft Certified Partner for Learning Solutions.
