Allens Office has taken 4,500 sq ft at Cardiff Industrial Park in Llanishen, where it has refurbished the space to provide a working showroom facility for office furniture. Cooke & Arkwright, who acted on behalf of the landlord, ITB Pensions Ltd, said that the deal completed lettings at the 50,000 sq ft industrial park, bringing the client’s ownership to full occupancy.
Allens Office was originally part of Allens Printers & Stationers Ltd, which has been supplying businesses in South Wales for almost 40 years. It had grown from a traditional printer into a single source supplier for printing, office supplies, promotional gifts and office furniture, with clients ranging from small businesses to local authorities and blue chip nationals with multi regional offices.
Wayne Allen, the managing director of Allens Office explained that the traditional printer’s environment at the existing premises in Sloper Road, Cardiff were not ideal for the office furniture part of the business. “They did not present the most efficient and professional workspace solution that we wanted to portray as far as office furniture was concerned,” he said.
It was decided that the company would split into two separate divisions: Allens Printers and Allens Office, with Allens Office to be established at new premises. “We then proceeded to search for a suitable site to provide a showroom facility together with sufficient office and warehouse space for storage and distribution of office supplies,” said Mr Allen. “Cooke & Arkwright provided the ideal solution at Cardiff Industrial Park. We have invested around £20,000 on refurbishments to adapt the premises to suit our current requirements.”
“This is a great location with further room for expansion at a later date,” said John Jones of Cooke & Arkwright. “We are very pleased that this letting, along with a recent deal to lease 10,500 sq ft to Pelican Healthcare, has secured full occupancy of the industrial park for our clients.”
Allens Office has since taken on two additional staff members, bringing the total to 17, to help with the planned increase in business. “We are delighted with the building and location,” said Mr Allen. “We feel very positive about the potential of expanding our office supplies and furniture business from here.”
