Chwarae Teg, the leading professional agency for the economic advancement of women in Wales, has opened new offices at Melin Corrwg Business Park in Treforest as a base for the delivery of its Agile Nation project in South East Wales.
Assisted by 11 new members of staff, Project Manager Hayley Dunne will lead the development and delivery of the £12.5m project to help women achieve their full potential in the workforce in the Valleys regions of the Convergence area.
Convergence is the successor to the Objective 1 programme and covers 15 local authorities in West Wales and the Valleys regions, including Rhondda Cynon Taf, Merthyr Tydfil, Caerphilly, Bridgend, Blaenau Gwent and Torfaen.
“Our aims will be met through training and mentoring of individuals, with some training being provided on site at Melin Corrwg,” said Ms Dunne. “The project will also work with employers providing an insight into the business benefits of employing a more diverse workforce and offering flexible working initiatives. A Virtual Centre of Excellence will provide a one-stop shop for equality in employment and flexible working issues in Wales”
Cooke & Arkwright is joint agent for the landlord, Scimitar Developments. Associate director Ben Bolton said, “Chwarae Teg needed a base to roll out the programme which provided easy access to the Convergence areas. Melin Corrwg is ideally located for this purpose and as a new office development it was suitable for immediate use.”
Chwarae Teg joins other tenants at the Park including Therapy Works, Lifetime Financial Management, Morton (Civil Engineering) Ltd and Rhondda Cynon Taff Council. Cardiff based property developers, Scimitar Developments, were nominated for the Environmental Services Building Control Awards for the 20,600 sq ft business park. Managing director John Shields said, “We are extremely pleased that Chwarae Teg has committed to our Treforest development and it reinforces our belief that we have a quality development that can attract agencies such as this.”
