Prestigious housebuilder Charles Church has announced the acquisition of Jackson’s Quay at Waterfront Barry, in what will be its first development in Wales.
The 1.3-acre development will consist of a superior range of three- and four-bedroom townhouses, many with waterfront views, as well as a selection of 67 spacious one- and two-bedroom apartments.
The Charles Church development is part of Waterfront Barry’s overall urban-regeneration scheme on 77 hectares (190-acres) of land next to Number One Dock. The multi-million-pound scheme is a joint initiative between Associated British Ports (ABP) and the Welsh Development Agency, which has created a vibrant mix of housing, retail, commercial and leisure facilities.
Managing Director for Charles Church Wales, Andrew Crompton, said: “Charles Church prides itself on its reputation for building homes of distinction. The townhouses and apartments at Jackson’s Quay have been given careful consideration and will be built to a superior specification.”
Byron Lewis, Estates Surveyor, ABP South Wales, said: “We are delighted to have attracted a prestigious developer of the calibre of Charles Church to Waterfront Barry. This is the seventh residential development on site and the multi-million-pound scheme continues to attract high-quality developers to the area.”
Joint marketing agents are Cooke & Arkwright and Atis Real. Mike Lawley of Cooke & Arkwright said: “This deal has almost completed the North Quay area of the development and we anticipate the release of the remaining site of 2.2 acres at Arno Quay for mixed-use development in spring 2005.”
Waterfront Barry is situated in a prime location, only 10 miles from Wales’ capital city, Cardiff, and new road links provide direct access to the town centre as well as having excellent connections to the M4 motorway - a gateway to London, Bristol and Swansea. In addition, Cardiff International Airport is situated only 3 miles away, with regular flights to UK and European cities as well as connections worldwide.
