The Office for the Commissioner for Older People has taken 4,640 sq ft on the third floor of Cambrian Buildings, a Grade II purpose built office development on the corner of West Bute Street and Mount Stuart Square in Cardiff Bay. Cooke & Arkwright acted jointly with Lambert Smith Hampton on behalf of the landlord, London & County in the deal.
The commissioner is a champion for older people, in the same way that the Children’s Commissioner has been for children and young people. The role of the commissioner is to ensure that the interests of older people, who are aged 60 and above, are safeguarded and promoted.
First Minister, Rhodri Morgan, appointed Ruth Marks MBE as the first Commissioner for Older People in Wales. “I am very pleased and excited to be moving to Cambrian Buildings, our first permanent office base,” she said.
Cambrian Buildings offers 22,500 sq ft of office space and is more than 75% occupied, with tenants including the Information Commissioner’s Office and the Eastlake Group.
Ben Bolton of Cooke & Arkwright said, “Cambrian Buildings offers the attractions of a period property with the efficiencies of a modern building due to the investment made on the refurbishment.”
