Castle views for wedding belles

08/03/07

The Cardiff branch of Pronuptia has relocated to a prominent city centre location directly opposite Cardiff Castle. The 2,000 sq ft store includes a 1,500 sq ft showroom on the first floor and unveils a completely new look and style as well as offering a new, fully personalised service. The layout was designed by Pronuptia UK chairman Jim Mumford and is the first in the UK to incorporate Pronuptia’s new French concept.

“It took some time to find the new premises,” said store manager Miv Conway. “But we are absolutely delighted with the outcome. Our agents Cooke & Arkwright found us an excellent location in Duke Street overlooking the Castle. It is a prime position and we have already had a very good response even though we have done virtually no advertising. The Cardiff branch has always been one of the top three performers in the UK and I believe that in future it will be even better.”

Ms Conway said that reaction from clients had been ‘terrific’. “The store has a real wow factor,” she said. “We follow this up by providing an extremely personal service: clients are booked in for individual appointments lasting up to two hours. We feel it is extremely important to give quality time to the brides – and the grooms - to make the right choice in the right atmosphere.”

Huw Thomas of Cooke & Arkwright said, “The opportunity to acquire quality premises such as these in a landmark location in the city centre is quite rare. The new store looks superb.”

The Pronuptia group has 68 stores in the UK and about 200 worldwide. It was first founded in France in 1958 with the UK retail operation commencing in 1962. It is now the largest established retailer in the world of bridal wear.
