Greggs’ acquisition programme in South Wales continues with the opening of new stores in Cardiff, Caerphilly, Pencoed and Cwmbran as part of its ambitious UK expansion plans. The leading bakery retailer has taken 4,600 sq ft at Cardiff Business Park in Llanishen, 1,520 sq ft in Caerphilly, 1,000 sq ft in Pencoed and just under 2,000 sq ft in Cwmbran. Greggs now has over 80 stores employing about 800 people in Wales.

Greggs has opened its first new shop in South Wales in 2011 in Swansea Bus Station, the city’s £10m central transport terminal which was officially opened in December 2010. The new terminal provides a bright and contemporary environment that is used by thousands of visitors to Swansea every week and is situated next to the Quadrant shopping centre.

Cooke & Arkwright has been named overall Most Active Agent in Wales 2010 by Estates Gazette in its EGi Deals Competition for 2010. As well as being overall winner, the firm has top five positions in the Industrial, Office and Retail categories, demonstrating the spread of services.

National bakery retailer, Greggs has taken up residence in the premises of the company that designs, manufactures and supplies bread ovens to all its stores. It has opened a shop at Mono Equipment’s 80,000 sq ft premises in Swansea West Industrial Park, where it is now effectively showcasing some of the latest oven equipment in a working environment.

National bakery retailer Greggs has embarked upon its pledged ‘accelerated’ expansion programme in 2010 by securing two new locations in Regent Trade Park and Avenue Retail Park in Cardiff. The new stores will create two dozen new jobs and start the drive to add 50 to 60 new premises to its estate this year.

One of Cardiff’s best known city centre landmark buildings, which has been empty since October 2007, is to get a new lease of life after Cooke & Arkwright negotiated a long term letting to Beatbox Bars Ltd. The Grade 11 listed former South Glamorgan Staff Club in Westgate Street is undergoing a complete re-fit by Beatbox, which already runs three of Cardiff’s most successful independent gastro-bars: Buffalo in Windsor Place, 10 Feet Tall in Church Street and Mr Smith’s in Cathays.
