South Point power surge

Cardiff based 11th Hour Events, which supplied the power for the recent Michael Forever Tribute Concert at the Millennium Stadium, has acquired 6,500 sq ft of warehouse and offices at Southpoint Industrial Estate in Cardiff Bay. The company, which also recently supported the Welsh Rugby Team by supplying staging and lighting for the screening of the two Rugby World Cup games at the Millennium Stadium, has been experiencing steady growth since it was established in 2006 by Directors Andy Hopkins and John Davies. Cooke & Arkwright acted on behalf of the landlord, Longford Investments (No 1) Limited.
Homegrown company secures former Dairygold premises

LAS Holdings has bought Dairygold House, the 70,000 sq ft former Dairygold premises in Felinfach near Lampeter for an undisclosed sum. The deal, which was brokered by Cooke & Arkwright, promises to breathe new life and bring the prospect of welcome new jobs into the area through a number of growth related projects.
Generation growth

Generation (UK) Ltd, which supplies access and building equipment to the construction, events, industrial and utility markets, has bought 1.5 acres of land alongside its existing site in Rover Way from Tarmac Ltd. The purchase has doubled the size of its facilities in Cardiff and allows it to hold more stock, employ more local people and overall, provide a more efficient service. Cooke & Arkwright acted for the vendor in the sale.
Santon switches to Phoenix Park

Santon Switchgear has moved its UK headquarters to Phoenix Park in Newport, to premises two-and-a-half times larger than its former location in Waterside Court. The company specialises in low voltage switchgear technology and has invested a substantial sum in the new site on refurbishment, technology, services and offices, to be in a position to take advantage of new market developments, including in the solar photovoltaic industry, and for future expansion. Cooke & Arkwright acted for the landlord, the Welsh Government in the deal.

Gwalia Packaging Group has purchased premises of just under 10,000 sq ft at Treforest Industrial Estate from Treforest Property Unit Trust (Hansteen Holdings Plc), which acquired the 136 acre site in December 2010. The new unit is situated next door to Gwalia’s existing premises at Treforest, bringing its total site presence to just under 100,000 sq ft. Cooke & Arkwright acted on behalf of Gwalia in the deal.

A new franchise for Wiltshire Farm Foods, the UK’s leading meals delivery service which grew by 8% last year, has opened in Anchor Industrial Estate, Cardiff. The franchisee, Peter McLaren-Kennedy said that the award winning and highly successful franchise business had proved itself to be virtually recession proof. His confidence in the business led to his decision to invest in his own franchise.

A fast growing tropical fish specialist has expanded into retail after growing into one of the largest aquatic installers in Wales. Aquabatic, a Penarth based firm, has opened a new headquarters at Link Trade Park, Penarth Road in Cardiff, where it has leased space for a large showroom and concept store from Cardiff Pool and Spa.

Furniture Origins (UK) Limited, one of the largest furniture and glassware manufacturers and importers in the world, has moved its South Wales operations from Treforest to The Gateway, a 60,000 sq ft industrial warehouse development in Abercynon. The new premises provide ample storage and distribution space, offices and two showrooms.
