A leading injury law firm has extended its lease on a Cardiff office scheme in a deal secured by joint agents Cooke & Arkwright. Thompsons Solicitors has signed up to a new ten year lease for 8,192 sq ft on three floors at Agincourt House, part of a 71,000 sq ft city centre courtyard scheme, Fitzalan Court on Newport Road.

Cardiff Sixth Form College, which was named the ‘Top Sixth Form College in the UK’ by The Spectator in March 2011, has taken a 15 year lease on all five floors at 3 Trinity Court, Newport Road in Cardiff, comprising more than ten-and-a-half thousand sq ft. The acquisition has allowed the private boarding college to double its staff numbers and take on 50 additional students, bringing the total number up to 150. Cooke & Arkwright acted on behalf of the landlord, Woodenbutton Limited in the deal.

Cardiff based 11th Hour Events, which supplied the power for the recent Michael Forever Tribute Concert at the Millennium Stadium, has acquired 6,500 sq ft of warehouse and offices at Southpoint Industrial Estate in Cardiff Bay. The company, which also recently supported the Welsh Rugby Team by supplying staging and lighting for the screening of the two Rugby World Cup games at the Millennium Stadium, has been experiencing steady growth since it was established in 2006 by Directors Andy Hopkins and John Davies. Cooke & Arkwright acted on behalf of the landlord, Longford Investments (No 1) Limited.

LAS Holdings has bought Dairygold House, the 70,000 sq ft former Dairygold premises in Felinfach near Lampeter for an undisclosed sum. The deal, which was brokered by Cooke & Arkwright, promises to breathe new life and bring the prospect of welcome new jobs into the area through a number of growth related projects.

Generation (UK) Ltd, which supplies access and building equipment to the construction, events, industrial and utility markets, has bought 1.5 acres of land alongside its existing site in Rover Way from Tarmac Ltd. The purchase has doubled the size of its facilities in Cardiff and allows it to hold more stock, employ more local people and overall, provide a more efficient service. Cooke & Arkwright acted for the vendor in the sale.

Santon Switchgear has moved its UK headquarters to Phoenix Park in Newport, to premises two-and-a-half times larger than its former location in Waterside Court. The company specialises in low voltage switchgear technology and has invested a substantial sum in the new site on refurbishment, technology, services and offices, to be in a position to take advantage of new market developments, including in the solar photovoltaic industry, and for future expansion. Cooke & Arkwright acted for the landlord, the Welsh Government in the deal.

After 12 years as Managing Director of Cooke & Arkwright, Michael Lawley is to take on the role of Joint Chairman with Roger Thomas. Andrew Gardner will take over the Managing Director role at the firm, which is the largest independent firm of chartered surveyors in Wales and one of the longest established.

MPCT, which runs Traineeship programmes including The Military Preparation College, Sports Academy and Prince’s Trust for young people throughout England and Wales has taken both floors at Tenby House in Cardiff Gate Business Park to accommodate its expanding business. The extra 4,000 square feet will house its new head office as well as providing a training base for new staff, following the doubling of its government-funded contract in Wales.
